some Abbreviations and Short terms

 

TYB - Thank You Brother .....for your volunteer service

 

GTG - Go To Guy – signifying the Brother running or coordinating a particular Council event- generally speaking that Brother is  the person in charge and whom to report to for any particular work assignment.

 

KISA – Knights In Service Always – usually accompanied by an SOS to stress the urgency or importance of a response when we put out a call for Volunteers – almost like our motto

 

Vivat Jesus - is a traditional Brotherly greeting or sign off that was created by a priest member and is Latin for Jesus Lives. I’s use identifies you as a Brother Knight

 

Worthies – short for the formal greeting “Worthy Brother”

 

Tempus Fugit-Memento Mori – Latin for “Time Flies-Remember Death.” It was part of the rite used in the degree ceremonies and in memorial announcements of the death of a Brother Knight

 

PCB – PanCake Breakfast – one of out most famous fund raising events at both parishes and one we hope to get back to very soon. Among parishioners it’s almost an automatic association with the Knights.

 

SBP – Super Bowl Pool

 

GK- Grand Knight

 

PGK – Past Grand Knight

 

DD-  District Deputy  - Several Councils make up a District in our organization. We are in District #7. Each district is assigned  DISTRICT DEPUTY. Our DD is Jerry Ferrara and there are 4 other councils in our district that he is the DD for. The DD’s wear the red  suit jackets

 

SUPREME  - Refers to the national/international  leadership of our Brotherhood. located in New Haven CT. Their offices are are near the St. Mary’s Church in whose basement our Knights of Columbus was founded in 1882

 

Blessed Michael J. McGivney Pilgrimage Center - formerly known as  the Knights of Columbus Museum in New Haven CT.

 

UIP – United In Prayer – the requests for  prayers we receive from Brothers

 

BD – Blood Drive
